The Amenities Committee (AC) are the Managing Trustees that operate the parish assets of the village hall and associated playing field as an unincorporated association. The operations are financially independent of the Parish Council.
All proceeds from the AC’s operations are used to maintain and improve the assets and to provide community activities and facilities for the benefit of all in the community.
Members of the AC are volunteers from within the community and receive no remuneration for their work.
The AC is a charity registered with the Charities Commission No: 302663
On Tuesday 24th May, we gathered in the White Horse to thank Charles Paull for all the work he has done for Tilbrook village Parish Council, the Amenities Committee and so many other aspects of village life over the years.
We celebrated his immense contribution to Tilbrook and know it will be an extraordinary difficult task to follow, but we shall all try our best. His wisdom, guidance and professionalism will be greatly missed.
Around 50 people stayed for the meal but many more also gathered in the bar for a drink to toast Charles and his achievements.
After the excellent speeches, Charles was presented with a case of fine wines and fine cheeses to ensure he would enjoy his ‘retirement’ in style.
Many thanks to Gill Tuke who worked very hard to make all the arrangements for a great evening but due to COVID could not attend! Thanks also to the staff of the White Horse who provided an excellent meal and service.
Consequently, the amenities committee has been working hard to understand the needs of the village, improve our immediate environment and provide a range of activities that people will wish participate in and enjoy.
In addition, there are some grants which may be available and these often require evidence of consultation with the local community.
In 2022, a survey sheet was prepared and members of the amenities committee shared out the village and went door to door to try to establish what you want from the village and the committee. Many thanks to all those who talked to us and completed their forms. This has allowed us to compile the results which gave us good feedback. In addition, the committee has held open evenings at which all villagers were invited to discuss plans and canvas opinions
However more feedback is better, if you just have any further thoughts or ideas, please contact us via info@Tilbrookvillage.life or David Cowan at Tudor Cottage Station Road.
Tilbrook Village Hall
The work of the Amenities Committee is gathering pace and in particular with the two major improvement projects for the hall and the playing field.
Improvements are planned for the playing field, subject to budget, which include refurbishment of the play equipment and the installation of picnic tables in the park. We would also like to add to the play equipment either this or next year and improve the frontage of the hall.
There is also an improvement project under way for the hall, again subject to budget. This includes: improvements to the lighting in the main hall. the provision of internet and Wi-Fi., improvements in the heating controls, access and security, the addition of some fixed audio visual equipment.
In addition, the committee has to ensure the existing assets are maintained and safe for all to use, in particular, we need to repair or replacement of the soffits, facias and bargeboards on the outside of the hall and decorate the inside of the hall. The existing oil boiler is nearing the end of its life and we need to built up funds to replace this aging system.
Therefore, we would welcome support from the community to several ways. This can be by attending as many of the fund raising events as possible and getting family and friends to come to those events, providing support in running the events and promoting the hall as a facility for hire.
We aim to issue the village Newsletter monthly and this will contain early information on the events we are proposing to hold in the village; I hope you will be able to attend some of the events over the year.
If you would like to assist in any way, please feel free to send me an email at stephenbirch2004@yahoo.co.uk or speak to me.
