In this feature we will be bringing you regular money savings tips aimed at saving you money and reducing your carbon footprint. Some will be easy and cheap to implement, others will show you how investing in improvements can provide you with significant long-term savings and benefits.
The lead contributor is Stephen Birch, a retired electrical engineer who worked in the UK energy industry and abroad for his whole career. In the last 20 years, Stephen established and ran his own energy efficiency and renewable energy installation company before selling it on, after which he undertook energy surveys (primarily domestic) for a mix of clients in both the private and public sector until retiring last year.
The Newsletter will provide at least two monthly Hot Tips relevant to the time of year, with links to more detailed pieces to access and digest. Each Tip will be researched and contain any relevant priced benefit analysis and a ‘Pros and Cons’ section. Each month, we aim to provide a mix of Tips covering a wide range of topics including but not limited to: heating systems and controls, laundry, cooking, appliances, transport, energy tariffs, life style, energy saving technologies. All the tips will reflect typical properties and lifestyle in Tilbrook, e.g. there is no mains gas in Tilbrook.
Stephen has updated all previous Energy Tips with figures from the current energy price cap which came into force on 1st October 2022. This has inevitably changes some of the figures in those tips and some of the commentary so he has added the list of revised and updated energy tips to the section below.
